What Defines a Boom Bap Type Beat

A boom bap type beat is defined by its distinct drum pattern and groove:

  1. Drums: Strong kick and snare hits where the kick falls on the "boom" and the snare on the "bap," providing a rhythmic backbone.
  2. Bassline: Funky and prominent, often carrying the melody and groove.
  3. Tempo: Usually around 85-95 BPM, with 93 BPM being a popular choice for balance between energy and head-nodding flow.
  4. Samples and Synths: Often use soulful samples or original funk-inspired synth lines to keep the vibe authentic.
  5. Raw Texture: Minimal polishing to preserve the gritty, underground feel.

These elements combine to create an instrumental perfect for old school rap styles and freestyle sessions.
